Fire and Axe
$ 69.99
Sold out. Back in June.
Fear the fury of the Men of the North!
Trade, plunder and colonize the world of the early middle ages! Sail the oceans to the borders of the world. Fight bravely under the banner of the Crow and fearlessly cross the doors of Valhalla!
The civilized world will tremble before you and the priests will chant their more enthusiastic prayers: "Lord, protect us from the fury of the men of the North".
Fire and Axe invites you to play the role of Vikings when they were scouring the seas and rivers of Europe for plunder and land between 750 and 1020.
Each of your journeys begins in Scandinavia, where the Vikings and the goods are embarked and where the runes are deciphered. During the voyage, you will trade with the local populations, you will plunder their treasures or you will try to establish colonies.
The speed with which you will pile up wealth and fame will determine your influence upon the early middle ages.
And if you can, you will try to make the stuff of sagas which will be sung by the skalds in the centuries to come.

Fire and Axe The "Making of"
I'm sure you've all heard the rumors saying that Asmodee are doing a reprint of Viking Fury.
Well, we at Asmodee would just like to clear something up.
We are.
But not just that - we've given the game a complete makeover.
We fell in love with the game the minute we tried it, and when we learned that Ragnar Brothers were willing to license the game to us, we were ecstatic.
Yet despite the sheer pleasure of the game itself, we felt that it could use a bit of the Asmodee touch for its visual aspects, and asked our production team to get on the job. They went beyond what we expected - not only did they rework the game's board, but they've also created whole new figurines and miniatures for the game!
We've decided to let you in behind the scenes and show you some of what went on behind the scenes. Below you'll find some pics of what the original game, Viking Fury, looked like, and what our version, Fire and Axe: A Viking Saga, looks like.
In some cases, you'll also learn the reason as to why some of the artwork or graphics weren't accepted and went through more than one version.
You can see the sketches of the miniatures which were made for Fire and Axe, along with some of the game pieces used in the original edition - we've made new pieces for the longships, the crewman/vikings (the colored cubes in the picture of the original game), and the cities (face down markers in the original).
This is the final version of the board used in our edition, and the board (well, cloth, really) used in the original version. We went through a number of versions for our board, each really neat, but discarded in the end because it wasn't exactly what we wanted:
The various tokens used throughout the game - our versions of the goods tokens, along with the sailing marker and the gold pile (50 points marker), along with the various tokens used in Viking Fury.

Our final version of the box cover and the box cover of the original Viking Fury. Our box cover also went through a number of versions, each considered before being turned down.

As you can see, we've also had the Rune cards updated - I admit that they don't have the rune as the old versions did, but we felt that an image instead of a rune would be more evocative and easier for players to recognize and spot (there are some rune cards with the same image though - just to keep the players on their toes).
For the longship cards, we also decided to make them bigger, so that players would have less trouble seeing what they each have on their longships, along with make it more colorful.
As we've updated everything else, we've also had the production team work their mojo on the Saga cards, giving them the same visual aspect as the rest of the game.
Obviously, our production team has been hard at work to give Fire and Axe: A Viking Saga the Asmodee touch, and we're working just as hard to make sure that it becomes available by March
